HATTIESBURG, MS — Local attorney, prosecutor, and small business owner Anna Rush has officially announced her candidacy for the newly redrawn Mississippi Senate District 45. A lifelong Pine Belt resident, Rush brings a unique blend of legal experience and local investment to her campaign—pledging to be a practical, hardworking advocate for the region.
“I’m running for Mississippi State Senate District 45 because I believe in Hattiesburg and the surrounding region. I believe in what we can achieve when we focus less on soundbites and more on solutions. And I believe our district deserves a representative who will roll up their sleeves and work hard—on economic development, education, and access to healthcare,” says Rush.
Drawing on her experience as a prosecutor, a court-appointed parent defender, and small business owner, Rush says she’s uniquely equipped to bring a thoughtful, solutions-oriented voice to the legislature.
“Between the courtroom and running my own business, I’ve had to navigate tough issues and bring people together. I think that’s exactly the mindset we need at the Capitol right now.”
A graduate of Oak Grove High School, Rush returned home and planted deep roots in downtown Hattiesburg. She has served for the past eight years as a prosecutor for the City of Hattiesburg, while also managing her own law firm and property development business.
Rush’s campaign will kick off with a listening tour of the district in the coming weeks.
